Ken Lam

Co-Founder / Principal

One of Navigate’s co-founders and principal designer, Ken’s decorated 18+ year career has seen him complete over 200 major projects in Canada and abroad, spanning restaurants, hotels, retail, residential, high-rise, cruise ships, night clubs, and more.

His roots in both Asia and North America allow him to draw inspiration from all corners of the globe -- from old China architecture, to Japanese manga, to mid-century modern furniture. Forever fuelled by his love of travel, food and a great drink, Ken’s hospitality-minded design philosophy emphasizes customer experience through touch, smell, sound and sight. “Successful design curates layers and evokes emotions”, Ken explains. It’s something you’ll feel every time you step into one of his spaces.

Ken sees the world as a tapestry of beautiful hues, together with his curiosity to explore cultures, this led to Navigate’s design philosophy that selectively integrates anything from eclectic cultural nuances to mainstream design trends. It’s a philosophy that brings global inspiration to local destinations in a strategic collaboration that gives clients the best of all worlds, and customers a great experience.

As a successful engineer earlier in his career, the discipline and structure of engineering are reflected in the critical thinking and design management he applies to design. His work is methodical, agile and meticulous.
